Algeria has continued to advance its national digital transformation, driven by strategic objectives aimed at modernizing public administration, strengthening digital sovereignty, and building an innovation-driven economy. In a context marked by the exponential growth of cloud computing and intelligence (AI), these technologies have reaffirmed their role as essential levers for improving public services, stimulating industries, and enhancing citizens’ quality of life.
It was within this framework that the Cloud and Digital Transformation Summit Algeria 2025 was held on Wednesday, December 23, 2025, at the Marriott Hotel in Algiers, at the initiative of Huawei Algeria. This landmark event brought together government leaders, public institutions, industry experts, and ecosystem partners around a shared vision: shaping the future of Algeria’s digital development through cloud and AI technologies.
Supporting Algeria’s National Priorities
During the summit, several national priorities were highlighted, including:
– The development of a secure and sovereign cloud infrastructure,
– The advancement of more efficient and transparent e-government services,
– The deployment of intelligent platforms to enhance public safety and urban resilience,
– The expansion of digital education to ensure inclusive access across all regions, and
– The empowerment of Algerian enterprises to innovate, reduce costs, and achieve sustainable growth through cloud and AI adoption.
Tony Sze, CEO of Huawei Algeria, highlighted that under the government’s “Algeria 2030” vision, all sectors in the country are accelerating their digital transformation. He emphasized that the rapid move to the cloud is enabling Algeria to leapfrog traditional, siloed IT models and instead leverage the latest cloud computing, big data, and AI technologies to better serve national digitalization and achieve a step-change upgrade in digital infrastructure.
“2025 marks Huawei’s 25th year in Algeria. In Algeria, for Algeria – this has always been our commitment,” Sze said. “From building the country’s first mobile base station to supporting the rollout of the national sovereign cloud, 5G, and AI, we have not only witnessed Algeria’s digital journey, we have actively participated in and served it. We will continue to work hand-in-hand with our Algerian partners to support the country’s long-term digital development.”
Robert Shu, General Director of Huawei Cloud Algeria, noted that digitalization has become a global consensus, with more than 170 countries having released national digital strategies. He stressed that cloud-native technologies are continuously upgrading the way organizations pursue digital transformation and that Huawei Cloud is as the first choice for customers in Algeria. According to Shu, Huawei Cloud is already creating tangible value across multiple sectors in the country, including government, telecom, finance, electric power, airports, and other key industries, helping them accelerate their digital journeys and enhance operational efficiency.
Participants also explored Huawei Cloud’s best practices in sovereign cloud architecture, digital government, public safety, and industrial digitalization. The latest innovations in AI, Big Data, databases, and cloud security were showcased, with the objective of accelerating Algeria’s national digital agenda.
AI-Native Cloud as the Foundation of Digital Algeria
The summit underscored that AI technology paradigms are rapidly shifting—
– from generative AI to agentic AI,
– from public data to industry-specific data,
– from commercial models to open-source models, and
– from concentrated AI compute to a diverse and distributed landscape.
Cloud centers are adapting to these shifts and are transforming into an intelligent foundation for the AI era.
Aka Dai, Director of Huawei Cloud Marketing, emphasized that Huawei Cloud is committed to building the best AI-native cloud to support customers in becoming AI-native themselves. Backed by a secure and reliable foundation, Huawei Cloud operates 34 Regions and 101 Availability Zones (AZs) globally, while its on-premises offering, Huawei Cloud Stack, empowers compliant innovation at scale. With more than 5,500 global customers, Huawei Cloud Stack has become the cloud of choice for governments, carriers, and financial institutions as they go digital and intelligent.
With Model as a Service (MaaS), customers can efficiently pre-train and run inference on models simply by calling APIs, using AI tokens to obtain AI results on demand—without managing underlying hardware, servers, or complex software deployments.
To ensure trustworthy AI, Huawei Cloud applies AI-native security, enhancing threat detection and response while safeguarding models, data, runtime environments, and generated content across the entire AI lifecycle. Building on this foundation, Huawei Cloud:
– Offers Pangu foundational models and ModelArts to help enterprises develop industry-specific models,
– Introduces Versatile, an enterprise-grade AI agent platform, to enable practical business scenarios driven by agentic AI, and
– Strengthens data, database, and development pipelines with DataArts, GaussDB, and CodeArts, enabling enterprises to innovate faster and operate smarter in the AI era.
Through these AI-native capabilities, Huawei Cloud aims to help Algerian public and private organizations harness AI at scale to improve services, optimize operations, and foster new digital business models.
Strategic MoUs to Build a Sovereign Cloud Ecosystem
A key highlight of the event was the signing by Huawei Cloud Algeria of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with three Algerian cloud service providers: icosnet, ayrade, and issal, marking a strategic step in the development of the national cloud ecosystem.
These agreements aim to enable these partners to become Huawei Cloud providers in Algeria, thereby:
– Contributing to the strengthening of digital sovereignty,
– Expanding local cloud service offerings, and
– Accelerating nationwide cloud and AI adoption across sectors.
Celebrating Local Innovation and Talent
The summit also celebrated local innovation with the recognition of the Algerian startup SirajSoft, which was honored during the event after securing top 9 places at the region level in the Huawei Cloud Developers Competition 2025.
This achievement reflects the excellence and growing potential of Algerian talent in cloud development, AI, and technological innovation, and illustrates how a strong cloud and AI ecosystem can nurture a new generation of digital leaders.
Through this strategic gathering, Huawei Algeria reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Algeria in building a secure, sovereign, and intelligent cloud foundation, serving sustainable and inclusive digital progress in the AI era.
Together, let us build a secure, sovereign, and intelligent cloud foundation for Algeria.
